This article is about the enemy. For the cursed relic, see Adorable Mimic. For the character who holds your relic collection, see Characters#Mimi. |
The Mimic is one of the enemies in Wizard of Legend. It resembles a normal chest until the player attempts to open it, at which point it attacks.
Attacks[]
The Mimic has a chance to spawn instead of a chest in a room or after clearing a locked room. Whichever size of chest is normally spawned (small or large) will determine the size of mimic spawned.
Notably, large mimics can replace the large chest at the end of the dash challenge room or the spiral spike room, which are the only times that a mimic can spawn without another enemy encounter.
There sole attack is to hobble at the player and attempt to bite them.
Strategies[]
The Mimic is a slightly fast enemy but only triggered if hit, if hit with a strong enough arcana it can taken out before waking up. The Mimic will make a beeline for the player, and contact should be avoided, as they attack quickly.
There are several ways to distinguish a Mimic from a regular chest:
- Mimics are slightly darker in colour.
- Mimics will occasionally twitch and peak out of their chest.
- Chests are displayed on the minimap, mimics are not.
Additional notes[]
The Mimic twitches slightly when sleeping, allowing for you to spot it. It can also be spotted if the chest is in the room prior to defeating the enemies, though sometimes it can be a real chest.
Anything that automatically targets enemies, e.g. agent arcana, seeker arcana, sprites or elemental auras, will attack a Mimic even if it is dormant.
Defeating a mimic will still rewards you with the loot a of a small chest.
Mimics appear more often in Hard Mode.
This enemy was added in the Sky Palace Update.
Large mimics were added in the Phantom Update.
