Rip Tide is a Basic Water Arcana in Wizard of Legend

Description[ | ]

Element: Water Type: Basic Subtype: Projectile

Unleash a quick burst of 3 water ripples in front of you with ripples dealing 8, 7 and 5 damage respectively. The ripples also destroy enemy projectiles that they impact.

If enhanced, two additional ripples are sent out alongside the final ripple, which spread out in an arc as they move away. This increases the coverage area and additional damage if enemies are point blank.

Unlike all other basic arcana, Rip Tide preforms a uninterruptable combo when the attack button is pressed once, and you cannot move your aim when preforming a combo.

Strategies[ | ]

Rip Tide is unique among basic arcana since it is defensively oriented and is primarily designed for destroying incoming enemy projectiles. The fully automatic nature and rapid execution of a combo allow you to take advantage of the quick start-up inherent to most basic arcana block incoming projectiles on the fly, between casts of other arcana.

  • When utilising riptide in this way you need to pay very close attention to your surroundings and enemy telegraph markers (such as those of Archers) to ensure you properly time Rip Tide and successfully defend yourself from damage.

The spread shot from the enhanced version drastically widens Rip Tide's coverage area allowing you to block more projectiles in a single cast and requires less precise aiming than the unenhanced version. The wider area allows you to block and entire volley of Mage and Burst Mage projectiles, however this requires even tighter timing since the spread shot comes at the end of a cast.

The full execution of a combo with a single button press makes it very easy to rapidly spam, allowing you to keep enemies stunlocked with ease. This paired with the knockback of the ripples makes Rip Tide an all around good Arcana to keep large groups of enemies at bay.

Try to tightly group up enemies in order to maximise damage since each ripple will pierce through all enemies.

Spell combos[ | ]

  • Fuelled Berserk Fuelled Berserk speeds up your basic attack, allowing you to rapidly throw disks by spamming the attack button. This is most effective when paired with Evening Gloves Evening Gloves as they allow you constantly throw discs by holding the attack button.
  • Magnetic Follow-up Magnetic Follow-up releases additional projectiles while attacking with basic arcana. However this is not very effective with Rip Tide since only two stones are shot out with every combo of Rip Tide.
  • Calming Flow Calming Flow pairs extremely well with Rip Tide due to its unique combo execution, causing cooldowns to be reset quickly after only one button press.
  • Evading Zephyr Evading Zephyr allows you to evade all attacks while using your basic arcana.

  • You are unable to move or adjust your aim during the attack animation.
  • A rip tide is a strong, localized, and narrow current of water which moves directly away from the shore, dragging anything caught in it out to sea.
